Last updated: January 1, 2024

Version 1.0 — Effective: October 13, 2026

Last Updated: October 13, 2026

Important: This page explains how we collect and use voice biometric data. Under laws like the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), we are required to inform you about biometric data collection and obtain your consent before collecting such data.

What Is Biometric Data?

Biometric data refers to unique biological characteristics that can be used to identify an individual. In the context of our voice training service, this includes:

  • Voice Recordings: Audio recordings of your voice during training sessions
  • Voiceprint Analysis: Acoustic characteristics extracted from your voice
  • Pitch Patterns: Your fundamental frequency and pitch variation data
  • Resonance Characteristics: Formant frequencies and vocal tract resonance patterns
  • Speaking Patterns: Rhythm, cadence, and intonation data

Why We Collect Voice Biometric Data

We collect voice biometric data solely to provide you with voice training services:

  • Real-Time Feedback: Analyze your pitch and resonance during practice sessions
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor changes in your voice over time
  • Personalized Coaching: Generate AI-driven recommendations based on your voice characteristics
  • Training Exercises: Customize exercises to your current voice profile and goals

We do NOT use your voice data for:

  • Identifying you to third parties
  • Creating a voiceprint database for authentication purposes
  • Selling or licensing to third parties
  • Advertising or marketing by third parties
  • Any purpose other than providing voice training services

Legal Basis for Collection

We collect biometric data based on your informed written consent, which you provide when:

  1. Creating an account and agreeing to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  2. Enabling voice recording features in the application
  3. Explicitly consenting to biometric data collection in your account settings

How We Collect Biometric Data

Voice Recording Sessions

When you use our voice training features:

  • Your device's microphone captures audio
  • Audio is processed in real-time to provide pitch and resonance feedback
  • If you choose to save recordings, they are encrypted and stored securely
  • You control when recording starts and stops

Voice Analysis

Our system analyzes your voice to extract:

  • Fundamental frequency (pitch) measurements
  • Formant frequencies (resonance characteristics)
  • Spectral features for voice quality assessment
  • Temporal patterns (speaking rate, rhythm)

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Background conversations or ambient audio
  • Audio from other applications
  • Continuous recording outside of training sessions
  • Voice data without your active participation

Data Storage & Security

Storage Location

  • Voice recordings are stored on encrypted servers hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Data is stored in secure data centers with SOC 2 compliance
  • Backups are encrypted and stored in geographically separate locations

Security Measures

  • Encryption: AES-256 encryption for data at rest; TLS 1.3 for data in transit
  • Access Controls: Strict role-based access; only authorized personnel can access raw voice data
  • Audit Logging: All access to voice data is logged and monitored
  • Data Isolation: Your voice data is isolated from other users' data

Data Retention & Deletion

Retention Period

  • Voice Recordings: Retained until you delete them or close your account
  • Voice Analysis Data: Retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days
  • Anonymized/Aggregated Data: May be retained indefinitely for research (with your consent)

Deletion Schedule

Upon account deletion or consent withdrawal:

  • Voice recordings are deleted within 30 days
